Re-Elect Paulina Medeiros for Secretary/Treasurer

There is more power amongst you, the membership, than there are people in power.

As your current elected Secretary/Treasurer, I am qualified in both experience, education and continue to learn and attend training which allows me to stay on top of the game.  I am proficient in Microsoft, specifically Excel allowing me to maintain our financial portfolio and membership database which is crucial and top priority in my role.  Communication is paramount and as our membership continues to grow and as we approach the next round of bargaining an accurate database that reflects both OPSEU Central and the Peel Board is imperative.

I do not take my responsibilities lightly, especially when it comes to the union’s finances. The Treasurer plays a vital role in maintaining the financial stability and success of the Local while ensuring transparency and accountability. I respect the unions finances and the dues that our members pay to allow our union to operate.  The money is not mine, or the Locals, it’s the hardworking dues paid by the members and this is my driving force when all financial decisions are made.

Building the awareness and importance of political action is key for union business and reaching out to new hires and encouraging them to complete membership applications is a win-win situation.  When applications are submitted, members are officially active members in good standing and most importantly they begin the journey alongside the rest of us.  This not only benefits our membership, but it also benefits our Local as we receive more funding and opportunities.

I am passionate about member engagement and not afraid to have hard conversations. I welcome conversations for growth, inclusive of equity seeking groups and members with disabilities.  Let’s celebrate our differences and take care of each other. This is when change really happens.

Members are always on the front line and risk their health and well being daily and as we approach another bargaining year; we need to break the barriers as we unite to achieve what we deserve.  Standing together in solidarity is of utmost importance and I am proud to stand with our members, and push boundaries as we challenge our employer and the Provincial Conservative Government.

I want to continue this journey with you, building our wins, making our workplaces better and strengthening each other along the way.  We are elected by the members and trusted by the members, and I will never take that for granted. I am honoured to serve you as Secretary/Treasurer, and I am willing to continue to put in the hard work. I am experienced, dedicated and feel blessed being part of Local 2100 and humbly ask that you vote to re-elect me as your Secretary/Treasurer for another term.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
