Brie-Ann Telford

Hi, my name is Brie, and I’m running for Second Vice President

Over the years, I’ve been deeply involved in our union’s work—especially in health and safety. As a certified member of the MJHSC and Chair of our Health and Safety Committee, I’ve advocated for safer working conditions, supported members through the work refusal process, and received recognition from the Workers Health and Safety Centre and Peel Regional Labour Council.

This work isn’t just a duty—it’s a passion. I’ve built strong networks with other health and safety advocates and worked hard to make our workplaces not just safe, but supportive.

I’ve also had the opportunity to support a wide range of members—through one-on-one conversations, digital platforms, and committee work. My in-depth knowledge of our collective agreement has allowed me to guide, empower, and encourage learning within the membership, helping members better understand their rights and options.

I’ve been mentored by our current Second VP, whose leadership inspired me to take this step. It showed me how impactful this role can be—and how important it is to keep building on that foundation.

I believe leadership means more than maintaining the status quo. Succession planning helps us grow and evolve. Things might be working now—but fresh energy and new ideas are how we improve, adapt, and strengthen our union for the future.

If elected, I will

  • Champion strong health and safety standards.
  • Prioritize member education and support.
  • Foster collaboration and connection across the union.

Our union’s strength is its people.

I’d be honoured to serve and support you as Second Vice President.

Thank you.
