Central Bargaining Update: Bulletin #4

OLRB Application Filed

As highlighted in the previous bulletin, we reached an impasse at the bargaining table on July 29 on the division of local and central scope items. 

Before we can move on to the next phase of bargaining, the parties must agree to the scope for local and central negotiations.  

OPSEU/SEFPO has referred this matter to the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB). 

This mirrors what has taken place with the other major education unions. 

The OLRB will determine what issues will fall within the central and local scope. This process will take time and could take several months to reach a conclusion.

September 16 Day of Action

In the meantime, we are continuing to organize to build our collective capacity to defend our public education system. 

Please save the date for an upcoming province-wide day of action by education unions on Wednesday September 16. 

On this day education workers will be wearing Purple and Red to show solidarity and demonstrate that we are all united.
